NOTICE Discolored water 09/14/2026

The paving company Mr. Asphalt opened up one of our hydrants and this has caused discolored water that has been reported on Smith Street, Harrison Street and on Hallison Circle. If your water is discolored, open an outside spigot and run cold water until the faucet nearest the point where the water line enters your home runs clear. Do not run hot or warm water, as sediment could enter your water heater. If water pressure remains low after flushing, check your faucet screens for trapped particles. Avoid washing laundry, especially white or light-colored items—during flushing your water lines. Once the water runs clear, consider washing a load of dark-colored laundry first. If you must run water to clear sediment, call the Utilities Office at 304-743-3422 and tell staff how long you ran it so your account can be noted for a discolored water credit.
